The purpose of META:PHI is to support clinicians in delivering high-quality care to patients with substance use disorders in all care settings.

This is achieved through:

  • Providing opportunities for clinician education, training, mentorship, and networking
  • Running an online community of practice for addiction questions and case discussions
  • Facilitating the creation of integrated care pathways for addiction between emergency departments, withdrawal management services, rapid access addiction medicine (RAAM) clinics, and primary care

Originally funded by Adopting Research to Improve Care (ARTIC) and implemented in seven sites in Ontario, META:PHI is currently being rolled out in Toronto with support from the Toronto Central LHIN. Through a secondary spread grant from ARTIC, the team is also supporting sites across the province opening RAAM clinics and creating local integrated care pathways for addiction.
